Impact Statement Grand Valley Institution looks to break down barriers and remove the stigma that exists with the offenders who are incarcerated at the facility. With the help of the volunteers from the general public, we seek to build bridges and establish help stronger, healthier, meaningful relationships between offenders and the world around them.

Description Providing escorts to various inmates at Grand Valley Institution so that they may attend programs and events in the community. We welcome applications from visible minorities and those with second language skills. Security screening is performed by the agency at no cost to the volunteers.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: All volunteers will receive Correctional Service of Canada National Volunteer Orientation and Non-security escort training that is specifically tailored to the volunteer position. Online and in-person training provided (up to 3 hours each)
Working Conditions: Driving offenders safely from the institution to community destinations Providing supervision to offenders at the destination and reporting any problems and/or concerns Be punctual and dependable in picking up the offender at the scheduled time Maintain confidentiality regarding client information
Transportation: On a bus route

Time Commitment
Duration: 1 year or more Anytime Time commitment – dependent upon volunteer availability, shifts can be from 2 - 10 hours
