Impact Statement
Our Ready. Set. READ! program provides students in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 1 an opportunity to practice their reading and literacy skills in a fun and supportive learning environment. Volunteers will participate in group games and lead small groups of three to four children in reading and literacy activities.

Description
- Start conversations; interact with children in a friendly and positive manner
- Help select books that are relevant and suitable to their needs
- Read together; play literacy-based games and activities
- Explain reading strategies and concepts when needed
- Provide positive encouragement
- Handle attention or learning challenges in a positive manner
- Act as a positive role model for children
- Ask staff questions when needed

Training Details: - Reading Buddy Training session; mandatory attendance
- Reading Buddy Manual and Volunteer Handbook provided
Working Conditions: Library setting

Transportation: On a bus route
