Kitchener 2051 Community Working Group

Planning

City of Kitchener

   About the Position

Impact Statement
The City of Kitchener is creating our new Official Plan. The Official Plan is a long-term strategy for how Kitchener will grow and change. It explains what types of housing will be built and where, as well as everything else that’s needed for our growing community.

The City of Kitchener is looking for community members to be part of the Community Working Group. This is a community-led, staff-supported working group that will help shape the new Official Plan process – called Kitchener 2051. The Community Working Group (CWG) will provide real influence through their expertise and insights by attending in-person meetings.

Description
We are seeking up to 30 volunteers to form a Community Working Group. We are seeking a dynamic mix of voices, perspectives, and experience, including community members who are Black, Indigenous, racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+ identified, people with disabilities, renters, people who are or have experienced homelessness, housing instability, or otherwise equity-denied, and the intersections of these identities and experiences are encouraged. Diverse voices and viewpoints will ensure that the project helps achieve the City’s vision of building a city for everyone where, together, we take care of the world around us – and each other.
