Description
**We are in need of 9 female volunteers in Waterloo who can meet with a female newcomer in-person for 1 hour/week.**

As a Conversational English Partner you will be matched with someone who immigrated to Canada for weekly English conversation. Conversations take place in-person, in public places, like coffee shops or the library.

We ask for a minimum of one hour per week commitment for four to six months of meetings. You would facilitate conversations with the learner, providing encouragement, feedback, and guidance with setting and working toward goals.

The learner might ask questions about the English language, living and working in Canada, meeting with their children’s teachers, attending a social or community event, or speaking with colleagues.

Your weekly meetings could include assigning homework, creating short lessons, watching videos, reading short stories, or taking turns with “show and tell.”

Training Details: Volunteer orientation is available in-person or virtually.
Working Conditions: Meeting times are highly flexible and agreed upon by you and your English learner. We will work with your availability to find the right match for you.
