Impact Statement
Volunteers make a significant contribution to our organization. They form the heart and soul of the YMCA. As a charitable organization our volunteers are ambassadors, providing us with a unique way to reach our members and participants. Volunteering is more than just sharing your time and passion. It's about giving back to the community where you work and live.

To help “connect” newcomer families to their new community by offering opportunities to develop social connections with established immigrant and Canadian-born families.

Position Qualifications

Ideal for: An Individual
Age: 16+

Area(s) of Interest: Newcomer Support

Skill(s): Collaboration, Cultural Awareness/Sensitivity, Translation, Community Knowledge/Awareness, Self-Motivation

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Training for this position will be provided. In addition, staff will be available for assistance and ongoing support as needed.
Working Conditions:
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Support volunteers with special needs, Accessible work space, Support Newcomers
Transportation: On a bus route

Time Commitment

Duration: 4 - 6 months
Weekday - Daytime, Weekday - Evening, Weekend - Daytime, Weekend - Evening, Anytime
1-2 hours per week for a 4 month period
