   About the Position

Impact Statement
Traverse Independence is an accredited, historic not-for-profit providing specialized independent living supports for youth and adults with brain injury and those with a physical disability across the Region of Waterloo and in Guelph Wellington. Our vision is to support adults to "Traverse the Distance to Independence".  We work and exist within our values of compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and support (CARES) in all that we do.  

Description
Our board's strategic plan, which will be renewed this year, drives forward the mission of the organization at all levels. This dynamic governance board seeks two directors to join this progressive, exciting, and vibrant professional board.

If you want to make a difference in your local community, this is the board for you.  Through your governance, the incredible services of Traverse work not only in the most marginalized in our communities but those who are transitioning to stability and independence. The board is looking for representation of our diverse community and would also welcome someone with lived experience.

Duration: Term is for two years with the option to renew.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: You will receive comprehensive orientation and on-going training.
Working Conditions: This professional governance board meets on the last Wednesday of each month from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. and the commitment is for a two-year term with an option to renew for an additional two terms, for a total of six years.

*Dinner is provided when meetings are in person.
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Support volunteers with special needs, Accessible work space, Support Newcomers
Transportation: On a bus route


Time Commitment

Duration: 1 year or more
Weekday - Evening
Board Meetings are on the last Wednesday of each month (6:00 pm to 8:30 pm.)
