Impact Statement The Ken Seiling Waterloo Region museum is the largest community museum in Ontario with two indoor galleries and a 60 acre living history exhibit called Doon Heritage Village.
Our main museum gallery tells the story of Waterloo Region while our feature gallery showcases local and travelling exhibits from around the world.

Description We are looing for birding enthusiasts with knowledge of local birds. Volunteers will guide small groups of visitors throughout the museum property in search of bird sightings. Volunteer guides will provide basic information regarding birds found in Waterloo Region. Participants will have the opportunity to record sightings for the Great Backyard Bird Count.
Volunteer guides should be comfortable speaking to small groups and able to project their voice in an outdoor setting. They should be able to stand for extended periods of time and walk on uneven ground. Volunteers must be able to tolerate moderately cold temperatures.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: Volunteers will be supervised by museum staff. Position specific training will be provided. Supervising staff will meet with volunteers at the museum prior to the event, for orientation and training. Working Conditions: Backyard Bird Weekend activities take place indoors and outdoors. Volunteers must be able to tolerate moderately cold temperatures and stand for extended periods of time. Volunteers should be able to walk on uneven ground. Accessibility: Designated accessible parking space Transportation: On a bus route

Time Commitment
Duration: 3 months or less Start Date:2023-02-18 End Date:2023-02-20 Weekend - Daytime Volunteer shifts are available 12-4 pm February 18-20, 2023.
