Youth Chefs-in-Residence

Impact Statement Our Youth Chefs-in-Residence will have the opportunity to assist the Teen Librarian with offering in-person cooking programs for children. Our goal is to introduce cooking as a fun activity and teach food literacy skills including confidence in the kitchen, understanding where our food comes from, and how to make good nutritional choices. The program will give kids (Gr 3-4) the opportunity to read a recipe, prepare a dish, and then taste test their creations.
Description Chefs will attend planning meetings to organize cooking programs. Work with a partner to choose one simple recipe that kids will enjoy and provide a list of required ingredients. Attend all cooking programs to provide assistance and support and provide hands-on support to children as they contribute to the recipe
Chefs enjoy cooking, working independently and on a team; have effective communication/organizational skills and are dependable.
