Ride for Refuge Campaign

Impact Statement Reception House Waterloo Region is a community – based organization which provides a warm welcome, programs and services to government assisted refugees who settle in Waterloo Region. These programs and services are aimed at assisting refugees in settlement/integration so that they may lead healthy and productive lives in their new community.

Description Reception House is once again participating in Ride for Refuge, a family-friendly bike and walk nationwide fundraising campaign to help people seeking refuge from danger, hardship, and abuse this fall. All the funds raised through this campaign will be dedicated to our Children and Youth Programming to help improve our newcomer youth’s sense of connectedness, inclusion and feeling valued in their new homes and community which can contribute towards building a positive mental health.
Volunteers would be supporting RH on following roles: 1. Stay at all the start and rest stops and strategic locations for the walk and the ride routes. 2. Offer water and healthy bars to the riders 3. Directing riders to right routes

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: Orientation and briefing would be provided to all the volunteers a week before the event. Training on Working Conditions: Outdoor, long hour standing, lift 5-10 lbs. Accessibility: Transportation: On a bus route

Duration: Special event Start Date:2022-10-01 End Date:2022-10-01 Weekend - Daytime, Anytime The event will be on 1st October, 2022 at Victoria Park from 11-2 pm.
