Impact Statement You will assist in the process of "Reducing, Reusing, Recycling" and help to raise valuable resources for peace and justice programs in Canada and around the world. Thrift on Kent is a part of a not-for-profit network of Thrift Shops that raise funds to support the local and global relief, development and peace projects of Mennonite Central Committee.

Description -Receive and pick up donations from donors; including loading and unloading of furniture; offering thanks and appreciation -Share information about Thrift on Kent and the work Mennonite Central Committee does.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: In-house training and job shadowing provided, at no cost to volunteer. A general orientation, customer service training, AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) and health & safety training will be provided prior to start of volunteer placement. You will also be trained in awareness of donation guidelines relating to acceptable merchandise as well as health & safety standards regarding resalable items. Support and direct supervision provided by the shop manager. Working Conditions: Must be able to lift, carry, and move furniture and other donated items. Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Accessible work space Transportation: On a bus route

Time Commitment
Duration: 7 - 12 months Weekday - Daytime, Weekend - Daytime - 3 or 4 hour shifts weekly or monthly - Length of commitment required: 6 months minimum preferred - Available for high school community service hours
