Impact Statement
The Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region (SASC) is a community based non-profit agency. We support survivors of sexual violence. We listen, facilitate healing, and celebrate resiliency. Using an intersectional feminist approach, we work to transform systems that promote gender-based violence. Our Vision is a world without sexual violence and oppression.

The Group and Workshop Volunteer will provide support to facilitators of groups and workshops. This includes providing emotional support to group participants in breakout rooms/another space and being available to debrief after the group. Most groups are facilitated via Zoom, but there may be an opportunity to support groups in person in the future.

- Listen, validate and offer information and options to group members who ask for individual support during or after group sessions.
- Respond to group members who are in crisis and use de-escalation techniques to support them.
- Support Group Facilitator during sessions.
- If in-person, help set up snacks, greet and offer drinks to group members, and help clean up after.
- Debrief with Group Facilitator after group session if needed.
- Potential to facilitate part of a group/workshop, if there is expertise and prior experience.
