Impact Statement Volunteers are a valuable resource, contributing unique talents, skills, and knowledge to the many facets of the operations at The Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery. Volunteers assist with many aspects of the Gallery, playing an integral role in our operations.
The Gallery offers a pleasant and enriching environment; sharing, learning, and contributing to the community; developing new skills; flexible hours and a discount on purchases in the Gallery Shop.
As a Community Garden Volunteer you will help nurture a green space that brings people together and provides pollinator support, and hands-on learning opportunities.

Description Assist with planting, watering, and weeding. Work closely with staff and volunteers to maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming garden space. Communicate any issues or observations during your shift. Follow all safety guidelines for tool use and garden activities as outlined in training. Wear closed-toe shoes, sun protection, and weather-appropriate clothing. No herbicides or chemical fertilizers are to be used in the garden. Respect all living things in the garden and follow best practices for working with pollinator habitats. Ensure tools are returned and stored properly after use.
Qualifications: Friendly and enthusiastic, with a willingness to work outdoors. Able to take initiative and follow direction from staff. Reliable and punctual, with a positive attitude toward teamwork. Previous gardening experience is an asset but not required.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: Attending an in-person orientation and tour of the garden. Working Conditions: Outdoors, able to stand, bend, and lift gardening tools or supplies (>15lbs). Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Support volunteers with special needs, Accessible work space, Support Newcomers Transportation: On a bus route

Time Commitment
Duration: 3 months or less Weekday - Daytime Volunteers are required for shifts during the public gallery hours. Shifts can be flexible, however must remain during our public hours. Our public hours are Tuesday to Fridays from 11—6 pm, Saturdays from 10-5 pm, and Sundays from 1-5 pm.
