   About the Position

Impact Statement
Since 1987, COMPASS Refugee Centre has been welcoming individuals and families who need help to
navigate Canada’s refugee claim process and to get settled into Waterloo Region, Guelph, and surrounding
areas. During the past year, we served over 1,900 men, women, and children from 65 different countries,
fleeing personal threats against their lives.
Our mission is to assist, accompany, and advocate for refugee claimants in our
community.
Our vision is that every person coming to Canada seeking refuge has unhindered
access to justice and opportunity to thrive in welcoming communities.

Description
The Board Member helps to define, uphold, and advance:
Our charitable objectives as a faith-based organization; Our vision, mission, values, and impact; Our “duty of care,” “duty of loyalty,” and “duty of obedience”; Equity, diversity, and inclusion as globally minded citizens

Board Members: Attend bi-monthly Board meetings; Serve as a member of a committee that meets/works between meetings; Be an ambassador and advocate for the organization and its clients; Current Skills/Expertise Needed:
Social Profit and charitable governance; Human Resources; Collaborative initiatives and partnerships; Philanthropy, Fundraising, and Finance
