   About the Position

Impact Statement
KW Branch of Toronto Cat Rescue (TCR) finds homes for abandoned, sick or injured cats from situations of abuse, neglect or imminent euthanasia.

As a health care advisor, you will work as a part of a high-functioning, multi-faceted team that triages health issues for cats and kittens within TCR’s foster program. The volunteer candidate would be de-escalating reactive responses from invested caretakers, and dealing with sick and injured cats on a regular basis.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Determine if a cat needs a vet visit or medication
- Liaise with foster homes and other involved volunteers via email
- Respond to requests in a prompt manner

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Training new members takes time. As such, we ask that applicants be available to commit to at least 6 months of their time.
Working Conditions: Medical, rescue or shelter experience or extensive knowledge of cat health through fostering. Basic understanding of common illnesses and treatment/medications, as well as ability to learn cat-related medical terminology.
- Available on a flexible schedule and able to respond to email in a timely manner with access to a smartphone and computer/laptop
- Access to a smartphone and computer/laptop.Proficient with Google applications (Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Drive, Smartsheets, etc.) and a willingness to learn - training will be provided
- Strong teamwork, problem-solving skills and professional communication skills to work with staff and volunteers on the Healthcare Team.
- Detail oriented work ethic and ability to follow strict TCR Protocols and Guidelines, using good judgement.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make difficult, objective decisions in accordance with TCR best practices philosophy and internal policies.


Time Commitment

Duration: 1 year or more
Flexible and preferences to be discussed.
