With ever-changing exhibitions and programming, THEMUSEUM presents a stimulating opportunity for a volunteer placement.

Description
As a Volunteer Gallery Interpreter, you will get involved in important functions of our upcoming exhibition The Rolling Stones | UNZIPPED, such as, exhibition security, directing traffic, interpreting artifacts, and promoting THEMUSEUM’s Vision “To awe, inspire and enlighten” by interacting and answering visitors’ questions.

•Work alongside Interpreters (THEMUSEUM floor-staff) and other volunteers by providing excellent customer service to guests.
•Public-facing role, expected to be able to converse & interact with guests including:
o Directing traffic within the exhibition
o Answering guest questions
o Providing information on the exhibition experience
o Explain or interpret objects within the exhibition(s)
o Provide additional security to artifacts
•Attend all orientation and training sessions.
•Work as a team member with staff and volunteers.

Ideal for: An Individual, A Group, Student Placement
Age: 14+
COVID-19 Vactionation Required: Yes


Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Training and orientation provided by THEMUSEUM staff. Volunteers to attend one session out of the following dates:

Wednesday, November 17, 6pm – 9pm, Saturday, November 20, 10am – 1pm, Sunday, November 21, 2pm – 5pm
Working Conditions: •Time spent active listening
•All sites will be playing music related to the subject matter & there may be some louder music experiences throughout the exhibition
•Must be comfortable standing for periods of time
•Must be able to lift a minimum of 10lbs

Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Support volunteers with special needs, Accessible work space, Support Newcomers


Time Commitment

Duration: 3 months or less
Start Date:2021-11-29
End Date:2022-03-20
Weekday - Daytime, Weekday - Evening, Weekend - Daytime, Weekend - Evening, Anytime
4 hours per week, weekdays, weeknights or weekends.
