   About the Position

Impact Statement
Leadership Waterloo Region Volunteers are the keystone to our success. With volunteer support, we are provide experiential leadership development opportunities, challenge people to view their community through a different lens, and foster connections with active and emerging leaders creating positive change.

Leadership Waterloo Region (LWR) exists to build vibrant, resilient, and inclusive communities. To assist in bringing this vision to life, we are seeking new members to join our Board of Directors.

A bit about what we will do together…

• Learn about our community, and where there might be opportunities for impact.
• Have tough discussions where sometimes, we don’t always agree. And that’s ok.
• Set and review policies that fairly and judiciously govern the organization, while letting staff get on with doing their great work.
• Evaluate ourselves so we can keep working together better.
• Celebrate the successes.
• Work with Diane, our CEO to ensure she has the support she needs and is given regular feedback.
• Laugh with one another, and learn from one another at team building and strategic planning sessions
• Support the staff team when they need us, like at Leadership Days and events.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: All new Board Members will participate in an in-house orientation as well as attending the Capacity Canada Board Governance Bootcamp.
Working Conditions:
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Support volunteers with special needs, Accessible work space, Support Newcomers

Time Commitment

Duration: 1 year or more
Weekday - Evening
Monthly Meetings (September - June) 2 hours/month
Training/Strategic Planning/Committee Work - varies annually and by committee
