   About the Position

Impact Statement
Leadership Waterloo Region (LWR) volunteers are the keystone to our success. With volunteer support, we are provide experiential leadership development opportunities, challenge people to view their community through a different lens, and foster connections with active and emerging leaders creating positive change.

LWR exists to build vibrant, resilient, and inclusive communities. To help bringing this vision to life, we are seeking new members to join our Board of Directors.

Our Board Members are like family. We don’t all think the same way, and that’s what makes us stronger. We are seeking members who are:

• Big picture thinkers that have and welcome diversity of thought
• Connected to the BIPOC community
• Experienced in growing organizations both financially and strategically
• Passionate about our community and for developing the future leaders of our community
• Excited to participate actively in Governance discussions, including strategic planning and generative discussions to bring different perspectives, skills, and experiences to the table
• Kind, supportive, consensus builders and clear communicator
• An active ambassador for LWR, working with the CEO to build relationships around the community on behalf of the organization

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: All new Board Members will participate in an in-house orientation as well as attending the Capacity Canada Board Governance Bootcamp.
Working Conditions:
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Support volunteers with special needs, Accessible work space, Support Newcomers
Transportation: Car required

Time Commitment

Duration: 1 year or more
Weekday - Evening
Monthly Meetings (September - June) on the last Monday of the month from 5-7pm.
Training/Strategic Planning/Committee Work - varies annually and by committee.
