Impact Statement Shelter Movers provides moving and storage services at no cost to women and children fleeing abuse. We are the only service of this kind in Canada, and our volunteers are no less exceptional.
We continue to operate during the COVID-19 pandemic. We have implemented stringent safety measures to protect our volunteers, staff, partners, and clients. While we all do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19, we must remember that home isn’t a safe place for all. Shelter Movers has experienced a 30% increase in demand since the beginning of the pandemic.
As a volunteer Fund Development Manager: You’ll have the opportunity to make a positive impact helping women and families transition away from violence. You’ll gain experience in leadership and fund development. You’ll receive training in preparation for your role, and have access to ongoing training opportunities. You’ll work with a great team of passionate volunteers and supporters.

Description The Fund Development Manager will have an integral role in supporting Shelter Movers Waterloo Region. Reporting to the National Fund Development Director and the Chapter Director, the Fund Development Manager is a self-directed, results-oriented role. The main responsibilities of this position include cultivating relationships with donors and securing philanthropic commitments from individuals, corporations, foundations, and government agencies. This role will have a strong focus on event-based fundraising, which includes supporting third-party events and campaigns. The Fund Development Manager will align fund development activities with the organization’s strategic priorities.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: Shelter Movers volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, complete an interview process, sign a confidentiality agreement, obtain a police reference check, and attend a Trauma-Informed Care Orientation session. Fund Development Managers will also get role-specific training. Working Conditions: This is a work from home, virtual volunteer position. Time Commitment
Duration: 7 - 12 months Anytime 6-8 hours/week. Additional time may be required, on occasion. A minimum 6-month commitment is strongly preferred.
