Kind Minds Family Wellness

   About the Position

Impact Statement
Volunteers transform personal narratives of Black persons, support and empower them as they navigate systems in order to attain positive Self-actualization and Holistic wellness.

Our Caregiver and Children’s Book Club program will benefit parents and children in multiple ways such as: an increase awareness of the proximal (e.g. health behaviors) distal factors (e.g. racism and discrimination) that impacts wellbeing; learning of positive coping strategies and healthier ways to relate and interact with each other; participants will establish a network of supports to decrease risks of social isolation; foster collective resilience by strengthening relationships and connections within and between families; our use of Black authored literature, will help children learn about their culture and improve their literacy skills; and by fostering whether these outcomes were achieved, we will conduct focus group discussions at program start and end.

Volunteers will work with the Cultural Group facilitators to deliver the programs on a weekly basis. Material and curriculum as well as training will be provided to volunteers.
