   About the Position

Volunteers get an opportunity to make new friends and meet interesting people as well as having the satisfaction of making a positive difference in another person’s life. In addition, this will be an opportunity to develop new skills and abilities and give you a chance to belong to and feel part of a unique community.

The Marketplace is the Ray of Hope food bank program in which we provide relief assistance of food and hygiene supplies in a respectful manner, and encourage people to make healthy, nutritious food choices.

Marketplace servers will assist guests in the process of using our food bank program in accordance with the guidelines set by the FoodBank of Waterloo Region. The role includes recording all visits in the databank, accompanying guests through the Marketplace ensuring compliance with food safety guidelines. Restocking shelves, periodically sanitizing all work surfaces, and general cleanup of the work area will also be done as required.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Onsite orientation to position and organization provided.
Working Conditions: This position requires standing, walking or bending for the entire three hour shift. Possible exposure to a variety of odours. Will sometimes be in contact with people that have difficulty speaking English.
Transportation: On a bus route

Time Commitment

Duration: 4 - 6 months
Weekday - Daytime
Volunteers scheduled for 1 shift per week; Thursday from 9:30am-12:30pm
