   About the Position

Impact Statement
Volunteers are essential to creating a sustainable cycling culture among Kitchener residents of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Whether residents are looking for information on cycling routes, safety tips, promotional events or upcoming projects, Bike Kitchener provides information, resources, and support to those interested in cycling. With a goal of doubling the number of trips made by bicycle every three to five years, a significant amount of work is underway to make cycling safe and enjoyable for all Kitchener residents.

Description
What is Bike Check?
Bikecheck - it's like a coat check, only for your bike!
• Responsible for parking and/or returning bikes as well as recording the ins/outs of bikes at Kitchener events
• Provide a positive experience for residents by providing great customer service
• Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and be comfortable reaching above the head
• Help strengthen cycling culture, and build your resume
• There will be various opportunities to volunteer for Bikecheck at different events during spring and summer.
• Events run from May – September.

Once selected as a volunteer, you will have an opportunity to create your own schedule by selecting events and times that work for you.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Short orientation and training day of event.
Working Conditions: Events take place outdoors, rain or shine; flexible.
Must be able to lift 30 pounds, reach above the head, and stand for long periods of time.
Accessibility: Support Newcomers
Transportation: On a bus route


Time Commitment

Duration: 3 months or less
Weekday - Evening, Weekend - Daytime, Weekend - Evening
Once you have been accepted as a volunteer, you will receive an email that includes instructions about how to sign up for shifts. Season is from June - September 2022
