Community Builder / Kitchen Helper

The Raw Carrot

Mennonite Central Committee Ontario (MCC)

   About the Position

Impact Statement
The primary role of Kitchen volunteer is to create a positive workspace where people can thrive. Soup making is the vehicle to support our staff's on-the-job skill development and employment. Volunteers support and encourage staff as together they peel, chop and create. Community and support is the goal and amazing soup to sell is the by-product!

The Raw Carrot Soup Enterprise is a not-for-profit social enterprise that provides meaningful employment for individuals with disabilities and barriers to traditional employment. We create handcrafted healthy gourmet soup that is sold in farmers markets and retail locations throughout Ontario.

The purpose of a kitchen volunteer is 3-fold:
- Supporting staff to increase their culinary skills
- Contributing to a positive, welcoming work environment where everyone experiences acceptance and encouragement
- Assisting in soup preparation so that the work gets finished in a timely manner (Peeling, chopping and soup making)
