The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario has adopted mandatory liquor sale and server training programs and now requires recertification every 5 years to ensure that servers, delivery, and sales staff remain well-informed and up to date on current liquor laws and that they maintain the necessary skills and behaviors to sell, serve and deliver alcohol responsibly. Liquor training certificates issued before July 1, 2018, will expire on June 30, 2023. This includes Smart Serve certificates and certificates issued prior to 1995 from the Server Intervention Program (SIP).
Certification is an online process which requires each person to have their own individual account on the website and complete a 4-5 hour online training course. You must achieve a mark of 80% or higher on the final multiple-choice test, for which you are allowed 2 attempts per course purchase, Please note you are required to allow access to your web camera for ID verification and online test monitoring purposes.
