   About the Position

Impact Statement
Our onsite garden was created to increase the amount of local fresh ingredients used by our Meals on Wheels kitchen staff in the fresh, hot, homestyle meals that we provide our clients with Monday through Friday. It also helps to keep food costs down for our clients.

Description
We are looking for passionate and hardworking volunteers to assist in our onsite garden, located at our office in Breslau.

Volunteers will carry out general garden operations including watering, seeding, fertilizing, weeding, harvesting and general maintenance.
Garden Volunteers will work together with other volunteers to complete all necessary duties in order to supply our Meals on Wheels kitchen with the freshest of ingredients to prepare for our clients.

Garden Volunteers have a passion for gardening, are adaptable, willing to learn and grow, try new things, and take direction from the Garden Lead.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Training will be provided on-site to volunteers.
The Garden Lead and Volunteer Team are always available to discuss concerns and to provide ongoing support, as needed.

Community Support Connections offers regular volunteer educational workshops on various topics. All volunteers are notified of upcoming sessions.
Working Conditions: General outdoor garden work - planting, weeding, watering, harvesting, etc in summer weather conditions. This position requires some heavy lifting and repetitive tasks such as bending and kneeling.

Shifts take place weekday mornings to avoid the heat of the day.

Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Support volunteers with special needs
Transportation: Not on a bus route


Time Commitment

Duration: 4 - 6 months
Weekday - Daytime
Weekday mornings; weekly availability preferred, starting in May
