Description
Résumé Coaches provide free, one-on-one consultations with customers who are interested in creating a first résumé or updating an existing résumé for career changes and new employment opportunities.

Ideally the volunteer will possess a background in Human Resources and/or Career Counseling and have experience in the field; Excellent interpersonal skills/ability to communicate well with diverse populations; Able to work independently to complete tasks with minimal supervision; Excellent literacy skills and are fluent in English; Able to write well, proof-read and produce error-free résumés; Excellent typing skills and a demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Word 2010.

Your role is to work with the customer to produce a completed résumé, offer advice on cover letters if needed and introduce the customer to library's resources as well as public internet computers and WIFI availability.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Orientation to Kitchener Public Library & Volunteer Handbook; Résumé Coach training & review of appropriate guidelines/procedures.
Working Conditions: At a computer station within the library.
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Support volunteers with special needs, Accessible work space, Support Newcomers
Transportation: On a bus route


Time Commitment

Duration: 4 - 6 months
Weekday - Daytime, Weekday - Evening
Résumé Coaches offer one hour (one-on-one) consultations with customers - date/time to be determined. Minimum time commitment is 4-6 hours/month.
