Impact Statement The Literacy Group is a non for profit adult education center that develops and delivers accessible and effective literacy programs. We support adults who want to upgrade their skills in reading, writing, numeracy, computer and workplace essential skills. The delivery of our services is possible through the dedicated collaborative work of our experienced staff and volunteers. We are looking for volunteers to support our cause and work closely with our Group Facilitator to support the students in various groups run by TLG.

Description To be a Classroom Assistant, we ask for 6 months minimum commitment. The Core Group Facilitator role requires anything from 6 weeks to 1 year. Modular Group Tutors can commit to 8-week sessions throughout the year. Volunteers deliver 2-4 hours of training to a group of pre-assessed adults each week for at least 6 weeks in a given year. • resources are shared with adults who have various & limited skills • an ability to offer engaging workshops is appreciated • able to support learners with their computer based learning tasks
Qualifications and experience • Excellent presentation skills (experience teaching is not a necessity) • Strong communication skills and ability to connect with people and be personable with a passion, knowledge and experience for the role

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: All volunteers will complete online training to support their skills in adult education.
Working Conditions: Two Literacy Group office locations exist in both Kitchener and Cambridge. Small groups will meet at these locations for programming. AODA committed. Accessibility: Accessible work space

Time Commitment
Duration: 7 - 12 months Weekday - Daytime, Weekday - Evening Be available for at least 6 weeks per year and deliver 2-4 hours of training to a group of pre-assessed adults.
