Impact Statement Hospice of Waterloo Region is seeking individuals to provide Therapeutic Touch and Reiki to individuals living with advanced illness and their caregivers.
Therapeutic Touch & Reiki have both been shown to help individuals with relaxation, improved sleep and occasionally relief of symptoms.
***Volunteers must already be certified with Level 3 Therapeutic Touch training or Level 2 Reiki training are required from a recognized training program***
Our most area of need is currently for Reiki practitioners

Description Therapuetic Touch & Reiki volunteers are considered to be Client Support Volunteers and may provide emotional, social and practical support in addition to the complementary therapies.
Hospice is seeking Therapeutic Touch & Reiki Client Support Volunteers throughout Kitchener, Cambridge and Waterloo. Most treatments are given to clients at our Hospice office in Kitchener, however volunteers also provide TT & Reiki sessions in the clients' home when the client is unable to get to the office because of advance illness.
Day time availability is an asset. The time commitment for this role is 2-3 hours per week and we ask for a year of service.

Training / Work Condtions
Training Details: Therapeutic Touch & Reiki Client Support Volunteers must complete 35 hours of hospice volunteer training. This training is provided free of charge. The next training is planned to take place in 2025 (no dates have been determined yet). Our Fall, 2024 training course is already underway and registration is currently closed. If you have daytime availability to attend training and for daytime volunteering, applications for this training are being accepted now for 2025.
