   About the Position

Impact Statement
To promote and enhance cultural diversity by providing students and visitors with information about cultural traditions and celebrations in our community. The Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum is expanding the Grade 2 and 3 Social Studies program to include how traditions and cultural celebrations are passed on, preserved or changed in our community.

Description
Working with museum staff and curriculum requirements, Diwali - Community Traditions Program volunteer will share information about their culture and celebrations in a positive and enjoyable manner through presentations, music and hands on activities. Volunteers must have first-hand experience celebrating Diwali. The Family and Community Traditions (FACT) is presented to grade 2 and 3 students in conjunction with the provincial Social Studies curriculum.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Training will be provided by museum staff. The training is scheduled for the week of November 21 at Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum.
Working Conditions: Volunteers will be working indoors at Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum. The Family and Community Traditions (FACT) presentations will be made to grade 2 and 3 students.
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Support volunteers with special needs, Accessible work space, Support Newcomers
Transportation: On a bus route


Time Commitment

Duration: 3 months or less
Start Date:2022-11-21
End Date:2022-12-16
Weekday - Daytime
FACT Program runs from November 21 to Dec 20. The program runs Monday and Wednesday mornings and afternoons. Volunteers are welcome to help in accordance with their schedules and their willingness to share their time.
