One-to-One Support Volunteer

Impact Statement Volunteers provide an essential service to Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington (CMHA WW) clients by providing one-to-one support. One-to-One Support Volunteers will provide goal-oriented, community-based support to individuals who may have mental health issues and/or developmental challenges.

Description This family is seeking a youth (ages 18-26) volunteer with a strong interest in video gaming, to be a peer that can engage with the youth client socially and be a baseline example of work/play balance.
The match works together (with the support of the staff supervisor and client family) to create a relationship that expresses care, challenges growth, provides support, and expands possibilities. Together, they decide what to do based on common interests. Goals could include participation in recreational activities & social outings or developing life skills. Volunteers will participate in the community or the individual's home. Volunteers are matched based on their geographic location and mutual interests.

Time Commitment
Duration: 7 - 12 months Anytime A minimum of 1 time per week for approximately 2 hours is preferred.
