   About the Position

Impact Statement
Do you have a passion for film? Would you like to help bring amazing films to the Waterloo Region? The Grand River Film Festival is looking for diverse perspectives to join its Programming Committee. This volunteer position would consist of watching, reviewing, and recommending films to be considered for GRFF. Duties include attending a monthly meeting and some outreach throughout the month. We are especially looking for female, Black, Indigenous, people of colour, and minority voices for the committee.

Description
Programming Committee Members work together to select films, speakers and themes for the Grand River Film Festival. Volunteers will gain experience in event planning while curating this local film festival, partnering with local organizations and businesses, and booking high-profile directors, actors and experts. Volunteers will be mindful of working within limited budgets.

Expectations:
-Attend monthly meetings (Or attend via Google Hangouts)
-Research films, local festivals and brainstorm event ideas
-Watch trailers, read synopsis and review all possible film suggestions
-Prepare pitches for film/screening ideas
-Work directly with high-profile festival guests and partners
-Bring strong time management and organization skills to the festival week
-Assist with year-round event planning and execution during the week of the festival in May 2024

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Committee members will be trained by the Chair of the Programming Committee
Working Conditions: Flexible hours and remote work.
