   About the Position

Impact Statement
If you are aged 55 years or better and a resident of Kitchener, consider joining MACKS (Mayor's Advisory Council of Kitchener Seniors)! MACKS is a link between older adults in our community and the mayor and city council - providing a representative voice for members of our older-adult population.

Description
MACKS’s Mission is to ensure effective community input to the City of Kitchener related to the impact of programs, services, strategies and policies for older adults in this community, enabling them to live well and age well.

Meeting Information
MACKS meets monthly on the 1st Thursday morning of the month (Sept. – June). An additional 6-8 hours is required monthly for projects or subcommittee meetings.

Monthly meetings to exchange ideas with other dynamic older adults.

Meetings are attended by Mayor Vrbanovic and city staff.

MACKS is comprised of 12 Kitchener residents aged 55+ who each serve a 3-year term.

Training / Work Condtions

Training Details: Volunteer & Council training is provided by City of Kitchener staff.
Working Conditions: Monthly meetings (September - June) either virtually via Zoom or in-person at Kitchener City Hall
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible entrance, Wheelchair accessible washroom, Designated accessible parking space, Support volunteers with special needs, Support Newcomers
Transportation: On a bus route


Time Commitment

Duration: 1 year or more
Weekday - Daytime
MACKS meets monthly on the 1st Thursday morning of the month (Sept. – June).
Currently meeting are held virtually on Zoom (meetings can be accessed both online and by telephone). When in-person meetings can resume, they will take place at Kitchener City Hall.
