Trail Maintenance

Grand Valley Trails Association

   About the Position

Impact Statement
The Grand Valley Trail was built and maintained through a large network of volunteer maintenance workers who ensure a strong and safe trail system. A volunteer Board of Directors administers this not-for-profit organization and therefore we would not exist if not for our enthusiastic volunteers.

Description
The GVTA offers organized hikes through a network of volunteer certified hike leaders who offer a range of hikes throughout the year.

Trail Directors are responsible for recruiting and training volunteer maintenance workers, assisting in organizing the trail maintenance tasks and maintaining relationships with landowners for their section of the Grand Valley Trail (GVT).

One Trail Director needed to manage the Towpath Section of the trail in Haldimand County. This position is responsible for recruitment, training and supervision of Trail Captains.
- Understand the standards of trail maintenance adopted by the GVTA and teach Trail Captains these standards. You would also help Trail Captains identify re-routes as needed and other duties as required for maintenance.
